Witnesses reported fight before man found dead in pickup in Richmond

RICHMOND, TX

Family members of Navor Catalan, 54, wait for word from police. Catalan is a husband, father and grandfather -- and has been missing since Sunday night.

His brother Onorio Catalan said, "I've just got to see him to believe that it is him for a fact and that he left us. He's a very kind person. He loved his family."

Police found Catalan's silver pickup about a mile from his home. A Hispanic man was dead inside, but police haven't identified him yet.

His family last saw Catalan Sunday evening. Then, at around 10pm, police received a call about a fight in the Rocky Hill apartment complex.

"There were two males beating up a third male in the parking lot of an apartment complex and she saw them dragging them into a silver pickup truck," said Sgt. Lowell Neinast with the Richmond Police Department.

Witness Mary Hinojosa said, "I heard fighting, arguing. I heard trucks."

The next morning, police found the truck. It was registered to Catalan. Witnesses say the headlights were on all night.

"It was running and I passed by again at 10 and 12, and that truck was still there, just parked running," said witness Verenice Penate.

Sgt. Neinast said, "There were obvious signs of blunt force trauma to the person in the backseat."

Police are still searching for the two suspects.

Catalan's friend Brian Cobbin said, "Somebody saw something."
