Wrong way driver dies after slamming into SUV full of students

HOUSTON

The accident happened at about 2:45am Sunday on Highway 290 near Bauer, not too far from the site of a deadly crash last spring break. Deputies say the teens were traveling outbound when they crashed with a gold Toyota Camry.

The wrong-way driver was killed. Authorities area still trying to figure out why the driver was going the wrong way at the time of the crash.

"At this time, we're not sure alcohol was a factor in the crash," explained Deputy Matthew Dunn with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. "The at-fault driver is deceased, so no charges will be filed."

The four people in the SUV were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They are all students at Texas A&M headed back to campus after spring break. The victims are two males and two females.
