Could Twitter one day help prevent HIV outbreaks?

A new study out of UCLA claims it may be possible to predict the risk by the language used in tweets. Scientists examined and mapped roughly 10,000 tweets with sexual and drug related themes.

They say by linking the tweets to data on HIV cases they can identify patterns of HIV cases and potentially prevent the spread of the virus.

Texas and California had the largest proportion of tweets denoting the risky behaviors.
