The two were reunited Friday to be recognized at the boy's school. Jermaine Ford received a certificate of appreciation signed by the mayor in front of his classmates at Mission West elementary school.
And Sergeant Ariel Soltura received a Wildcat hero plaque from the school for his commitment to youth.
"I'm overjoyed that the public as a whole, the global public, has been able to see officers in a manner that really isn't portrayed too many times," said Sgt. Soltura.
"We just played two minutes of catch, but I appreciate the things they did for me," said Jermaine.
The little boy also received a football signed by the Houston Texans and other gifts.
