Flowers and weddings across Houston for Valentine's Day

HOUSTON

It's a moment Nina and Eddie Munguia will never forget. With their three-year-old son, Noah, as ring bearer, they married this morning in Judge Richard Vara's eastside courtroom.

"We were raised in this community. This is where my mother and father were married a long time ago," said Eddie.

Nina's birthday was earlier this week. Eddie's is this weekend and Cupid seemed the perfect companion to celebrate their wedding in between.

"It's a day that you're going to celebrate every year and you know what's going, so you really cannot forget that this is Valentine's Day," said Judge Richard Vara, who married the couple.

On the other side of the city, the shoppers on Fannin's Flower Row are carrying out the annual tradition of last-minute, fast and economical flower purchases.

"Trying to surprise her and everything," said shopper Eli Washington. "Just a couple roses for my wife."

Back at that east side courtroom, Judge Vara will be busy all day performing more than a dozen weddings.
