Eighth grader uses Heimlich maneuver to save choking classmate

Zack said he was coming out of the cafeteria at school when he saw Edwin with his hands on his neck, CNN reports. It didn't take long to figure out his classmate was choking.

Moving quickly, the 13-year-old did something he'd never done before: the Heimlich maneuver. And it worked. Out from Edwin's mouth flew a chunk of hamburger.

Where did Zack learn the lifesaving technique? He says he got it from watching a movie -- "Mrs. Doubtfire," starring Robin Williams.

Zack also gives credit to his mom, a guidance counselor, who showed him a video about the Heimlich last year.
