Students at UT Austin rally to help homeless man

AUSTIN, TX

UT alum Benjamin McPhaul says he recently ran into Junior -- the so-called "Wendy's guy" -- who is now homeless, CNN reports.

He worked in the student union for 15 years and was known for his smile and positive attitude.

But Junior recently lost his job and home.

McPhaul is hosting a fundraiser to help Junior get back on his feet.

"If you are really nice to people and you are always smiling maybe you will have hard times, but that good things will come back to you in the end," McPhaul said.

Over the past four days, UT students have raised more than $30,000 for Junior.

He is so beloved that in 2006, he starred in an award-winning documentary and even broke a fast food world record for the most sales in 30 minutes.
