Boy, 13, stops burglary ring in his California neighborhood

Alex Gouveia was home from school when a man kept pounding on his door, CNN reports.

Alex called his dad, who told him to call 911. He then ran into the backyard and hid.

While he was on the phone with dispatchers, three men reportedly broke in and started ransacking the house, loading jewelry, video games and other items into Alex's own duffle bag.

The boy waited until police arrived, and then showed the officers where to find the burglars. All three were taken into custody.

According to KCRA-TV, officers with the Manteca Police Department found other stolen items inside the burglars' car that belonged to other houses burglarized in the area.
