Driver killed in fiery southwest Houston crash

HOUSTON

It happened just before 6am in the 11200 block of Westpark Drive.

Westbound lanes of Westpark were shut down between Rogerdale and Wilcrest for the investigation.

According to police, a 19-year-old man was speeding when his green Mazda 3 left the roadway and hit two trees and a light pole. The victim died at the scene. His name has not been released.

Investigators believe fog also may have been a factor.

The car's engine caught fire. No other vehicles were involved, officials said.
