HOUSTON --
There's a new member of the Houston Zoo family. Duncan made his public debut today. The Asian elephant took a nap while mom Shanti munched on hay. Duncan was born Friday at a healthy 385 pounds. Zookeepers say this is Shanti's fourth calf and she's an attentive mom.
The delivery was long awaited as elephants have a gestation period of nearly 23 months.
