Woman's body found in vacant Clear Lake apartment

HOUSTON

A passerby discovered the body at the complex in the 16400 block of El Camino Real. According to police, the man who discovered her told police the door was wide open. Her body was in the living room, and she was partially clothed.

Police say the Hispanic woman, who appeared to be in her 30s, was beaten to death. Investigators are still trying to identify her.

"She had severe head trauma. Not sure exactly yet what the weapon was," Houston Police Department Sgt. Ben Williams said. "Right now, we're just interviewing residents, neighbors of this complex, trying to figure out who this woman is."

A neighbor tells Eyewitness News she heard banging coming from the upstairs vacant apartment on Wednesday. She thought the noise was coming from an adjacent apartment.

Neighbor Carlton Hypolite says he didn't hear anything, but said he's really frightened by this.

"It's terrifying, man. I actually want to get my kids and move right now if I could," he said.

Right now, investigators say they do not have any witnesses or suspects. Meanwhile, an autopsy has been scheduled so investigators can determine exactly how she died.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Houston.
