HCSO: Teenager killed by hit-and-run driver in NW Harris Co.

HOUSTON

Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff's Office say Nicole Ruekwe was hit by more than one driver, none of whom stopped.

It happened just before 7pm last night. Harris County investigators say Nicole had an argument with her family and left their home, which is very close to the intersection of Barker Cypress at River Sage.

Detectives say she walked across the street there and was struck by an oncoming car that failed to stop and render aid. It's a dark area at night due to a lack of street lights.

She was struck by multiple vehicles after the initial hit and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nicole's stepfather tells us she was a ninth grader at Cypress Lakes High School. Cy Fair ISD will have counselors available to students who need that.

Neighbors say Nicole was a friendly girl who always waved to them as she passed by.

Aside from finding out who hit this teenager, another question investigators have is whether the other cars that struck her were even aware that they had struck a person. They received several 911 calls from this area.

Anyone with info is asked to call Crime Stoppers 713-222-TIPS.
