High-speed chase ends with K-9 sniff-out in Harris County car lot

HOUSTON

Deputies tell us the driver jumped out the vehicle and ran away, but he and a female passenger are now in custody.

It all started with an attempted traffic stop. A deputy tried to pull over the car near Gessner and Alfred just before 2am.

Instead of stopping, though, the driver hit the gas, leading deputies on a chase that went all the way up Highway 249 and ended with the driver losing control and crashing near Spring Cypress.

That driver, who reportedly has several felony warrants out for his arrest, then jumped out of the car and tried to run away.

A K-9 unit finally found the man hiding in the back of a pickup parked at a car dealership. He was taken into custody, along with a woman who was in the car with him.

We're told the chase reached speeds of up to 130mph. Charges are pending.
