Photo of Odessa officer helping homeless man goes viral

ODESSA, TX

Corporal Jeremy Walsh is the man behind the good deed. He says the homeless man is someone he's come to know during his time on patrol. When noticed the man, who goes by AJ, was without shoes, he took action.

"He used to have some steel-toe Dockers. They ended up falling apart on him," said Walsh. "I have some boots that I never wear because they're a size too small and they're just collecting dust in the closet. I figured AJ could use them a lot more than I could."

AJ spent time in Colorado and lost part of his feet to frostbite. He often turns down help, but did eventually take the boots.

"I had to do a little back and forth. I saw him today and he said, 'I haven't forgot about you,'" said Walsh. "I said, 'It wouldn't be a gift if we were trading, bro.'"

Television station KWES found AJ, who does say he's grateful for the boots.

It's unclear who took the photo.
