NFL toys with idea of dropping extra points

NEW YORK

Commissioner Roger Goodell says there's zero drama attached to the point after a touchdown, adding there were only five missed extra points out of 1,200 attempts last season.

The NFL's competition committee is toying with the idea of giving a team an automatic seven points when they score a touchdown.

Teams could potentially go for an eighth point by running or passing the ball. If you fail, you only get six.
