Teen reportedly fights off attacker in her own home in east Houston

HOUSTON

An unexpected visitor has the 15-year-old so shaken, she asked us not to identify her.

"My dog was barking, so I went outside to see what was going on and there was a man dressed in all black," she recalled. "He was standing right there and I didn't know what to do. My first reaction was just to run and run upstairs."

The junior at Galena Park High School said she ran back inside her home in east Houston and tried to prevent the man from coming in, but he was just bigger and stronger.

The girl said, "When I went to grab the knife, he grabbed my hoodie and pulled me back and I hit my head."

She says the two struggled on the kitchen floor and that's where she was able to stab the man with a kitchen knife.

"I had to fight for my life," she said. "It wasn't something that I can stop and think, I'm not going to let him take anything."

She was then able to get away and run across the street to a neighbor's house, but not before getting hurt in the process. She suffered a small wound on her leg, considering things could have been much worse.

Houston police officers searched a nearby wooded area for the suspect but he was able to get away. The teenager, who is clearly a very brave young lady, is back home resting.
