It happened just after midnight on Beltway 8 at Wallisville.
Deputies say Johnny Lopez Jr. was driving a 2006 Harley-Davidson, and his wife was sitting on the back.
They were southbound on the feeder road in the 5600 block of the East Sam Houston Parkway when Lopez reportedly made a last-minute decision to get onto the freeway. But officials said he tried too late.
Lopez clipped the raised concrete curb and was thrown onto the median separating the entrance ramp from the feeder road. He died at the scene.
Authorities said he wasn't wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. His wife, who was wearing a helmet, was treated and released from the scene.
This crash remains under investigation.
