Investigators with the Smith County Fire Marshal's Office are trying to determine what sparked the fire early Friday near Lindale.
Lindale Volunteer Fire Department firefighter Joe Yeakley was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. Lt. Aaron Munn says the 52-year-old Yeakley was listed in critical but stable condition. Munn says Yeakley has severe burns to his hands and face and briefly was trapped in the burning structure.
A firefighter with the Dixie Volunteer Fire Department, Caleb Snider, was treated and released from a Tyler hospital.
Munn says the man who lives in the house escaped unharmed.
Lindale is 80 miles southeast of Dallas.
