Hit-and-run victim found in bayou by fishermen in east Houston

HOSUTON

It's believed a man in his 50s was walking on the bridge over Brays Bayou along Harrisburg and Broadway when he was hit by the vehicle early yesterday morning.

Investigators say they didn't even know they were looking for a victim until his body was found by fishermen in the bayou. They think he flew over the bridge and landed in the water after being hit.

"Apparently the victim was on the phone and was abruptly cut off around midnight, which is the time we believe the accident occurred. Two fishermen who were down here fishing around 7:45 this evening located the body," said J.R. Roberts with the Houston Police Department.

Police are still looking for the driver who hit the man. Anyone who may have seen what happened is being asked to call authorities.
