Fire sends Corpus Christi residents to roof

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX

The Corpus Christi Fire Department used ladders to help with Tuesday night's rescue.

Officials say one person was transported to a hospital to be checked out as a precaution.

Fire department Capt. James Brown says investigators believe the blaze started on the second floor. Authorities are trying to determine what sparked the fire that displaced more than a dozen people. No estimate was available on damage mainly to the interior of the structure.

The American Red Cross will help the affected residents.
