High-speed police chase ends in crash in southeast Houston

HOUSTON

It started with an officer trying to stop a driver for failing to yield. Instead of stopping, the driver hit the gas and led the officer on a brief chase, with speeds reaching close to 100 miles an hour.

The driver eventually lost control trying to make a left turn at I-45 and Airport and hit a concrete pillar underneath the Gulf Freeway. At that point, officers were able to move in and make an arrest.

"The driver is being arrested for felony evading. Three had minor injuries and were transported to area hospitals. They're expected to be treated and released," said an officer on the scene.

According to police, the car was not stolen and nothing illegal was found inside it. It's unclear at this point why the driver fled police.
