Baylor hopes to break even from Fiesta Bowl

WACO, TX

The Waco Tribune-Herald reports that Baylor will get about $2 million to pay for hotels and travel for about 600 people from the university. It stands to collect about $1.6 million for its share of the bowl payout, which goes to the Big 12 conference and is split among 10 teams after expenses.

But that figure could still decrease depending on the number of unsold tickets. Baylor sold 11,000 of its 17,500-ticket allotment.

But Baylor spokesman Nick Joos says the university is still excited to play in a high-profile bowl, describing it as "four hours of TV exposure" that officials couldn't buy.
