Chevron puts downtown Houston building plans on hold

California-based Chevron Corporation has put on hold its plans to build a new 50-story office tower in downtown Houston.

The company announced its July that it would build the tower near two others it owns downtown.

Chevron says it does not expect to make decisions on projects in Houston, Pennsylvania and California until after 2014.
