Suspect in deadly west Harris County roadway shooting turns himself in

HOUSTON

Jose Alejandro Perez, aka 'Alex,' who was wanted in the September 28 shooting death of Shelly Wilson in the 2004 block of Fry Road, turned himself in on Monday.

Wilson was reportedly driving his pickup southbound on Fry Road and had stopped in the intersection at Tounglake Drive. That's where investigators say he encountered Perez, who was in a 2010 black Ford F-150 with two other people inside.

Apparently a verbal altercation ensued, which escalated to gunfire. Wilson was shot and investigators say Perez fled the scene. Wilson was found deceased lying in the roadway.

Perez is charged with murder. He's free after posting $50,000 bond.
