Man married less than 7 hours killed while helping motorist in snow in Chicago

CHICAGO, IL

William Knight and his bride were on the way to a hotel from their wedding reception last night when they stopped to help a woman whose car slid off the road. The Lake County sheriff's office says Knight and the woman he was helping were standing on the side of the road when they were struck by several vehicles and killed.

Knight's bride, Nikki Knight, tells the Chicago Sun-Times she went from newlywed to widow, "the highest high to the lowest low," in a matter of hours.

Police say all drivers involved in the crash remained at the scene and no charges had been filed as of this afternoon.
