Proposal would extend managed toll lanes for I-10

HOUSTON

The west side has seen a lot of growth and TxDOT is looking for ways to relieve the congestion that comes with it. According to TxDOT, in 2009, 193,000 vehicles travelled along the Katy Freeway at Highway 6. In 2012, that number jumped to 247,000.

Two managed toll lanes could be extended in each direction from Highway 6 to Sealy.

"We look to the future to see what's out there," said TxDOT spokesperson Danny Perez. "It's not something to just put a temporary fix, but something we can address for years to come."

There's no timeline or funding for this proposal. TxDOT will take public input into consideration.
