Free museum visits, holiday movies

HOUSTON

It's the first weekend in December so that means free museums and zoo visits thanks to Bank of America and the museum's on US Program! This Saturday and Sunday any Bank of America or Meryll Lynch card holders can take advantage of free admission to The Children's Museum, The Museum of Fine Arts and the Houston Zoo and proper ID will be required.

Saturday over at the El Dorado Ballroom there will be a live performance of the group 'Theaster Gates and the Black Monks of Mississippi' presented by Blaffer Art Museum, Project Row House and the Cynthia Woods Mitchel Center for the arts. The group is a Chicago based experimental musical ensemble that includes Gospel, Blues and Zen chants and starts at 6:30pm.

Mark the calendar for next Wednesday, December 11th for the Xifinity fun booth at Discovery Green. Kids can take part in fun games and a chance to win prizes and while there head over to the cartoon caricature booth for a free cartoon portrait that makes a great gift! The event will take place from 5pm to 9pm.

The holidays are here so get into the spirit with free holiday movies in the parks! Over at Discovery Green tonight, watch as Jack Frost and the other guardians try to save the kids from pitch the nightmare maker in "Rise of the Guardians" the movie starts at 6:30pm tonight.

Saturday over at La Centerra in Cinco Ranch, catch the Arnold Schwarzenegger holiday film "Jingle all the Way." This film starts at dusk but come early for your chance to see santa between the hours of 1pm to 4pm.

Over in Sugar Land at the Town Square this Saturday Will Ferrell stars as buddy the elf in the free screening of the holdiay hit "Elf!" The movie starts at 7pm but come early because this film has also been turned into a broadway musical that is now showing in Houston and the actors will be on hand for the screening as well!

And if you really want to get in good with the kids, head over to the "Portable North Pole.com" and set up a free personalized message from Santa for you loved ones, it's easy to do and will guarantee to get your kids on the nice list!
