Study finds more swearing in Ohio than any other state

The five states most likely to curse are Ohio, Maryland, New Jersey, Louisiana and Illinois. Over the past year, researchers analyzed more than 600,000 phone calls, mostly consumer to business calls. The study found Ohioans uttered a four-letter word in every 150th conversation.

The study also found that men utter 66 percent of the curses, calls that have the most cursing are more than 10 minutes long and some people are apparently cranky in the morning -- calls in the morning are twice as likely to produce cursing as calls in the afternoon or evening.

As for our state, Texas was one of the top five states that was least likely to curse, joined by Washington, Massachusetts, Arizona and Virginia.

Texas was also categorized as a very courteous state.
