Student joggers discover teen shot to death at north Houston park

HOUSTON

Police say the body of the 17-year-old was discovered around 6:30am at the Keith Weiss Park, found lying just off the running path in the park. Eyewitness News spoke with a coach from MacArthur High School and says the students running called another coach after seeing the body.

"Just kind of scared and just weirded out," said Coach Andy Garza "They have never seen a dead body before and I guess shocked as anyone would be coming up on a dead body."

Neighbors who live in the area say lately they have heard gunshots on multiple occasions, so they're concerned. One man even expressed his concern over the amount of gang activity in the area.

Authorities believe this to be a gang-related shooting death, so the gang task force is coming out to investigate.

According to police, the victim had just graduated from MacArthur High School.

So far, no suspect information has been released.
