Local leaders mark groundbreaking of new Buffalo Bayou path construction project

HOUSTON

The project is part of a $30 million plan to improve mobility across the city by eliminating gaps in off-street bike and walking trails. The Buffalo Bayou Path Project will close a .3-mile gap along Smith and Travis streets.

Construction is set to begin next month. Mayor Parker says the trails are an incredible asset.

"More options to get around the city and more opportunities for Houstonians to enjoy the out of doors," she said.

The plan consists of six separate projects and includes the addition of benches, bike racks and lighting.
