Caught on video: Thieves steal tires from family's car on driveway

The couple wants to warn others about their $4,000 loss. They have a play-by-play look at how it all happened and they're hoping someone will recognize them.

It was not the way the Drapers planned on spending their weekend.

"We thought we took every step possible to try and prevent it," victim Missy Draper said.

While they were asleep in the early morning hours Saturday, wheel locks and a security camera weren't enough to stop thieves in their driveway.

"Couldn't believe that this happened to us," Draper said.

But they weren't speedy on the job.

"Come to find out, they were here for about 40 to 45 minutes," Draper said.

And a close call almost stopped the operations all together, when the back of the Tahoe tilted and almost fall on one of the thieves.

"It was also a reminder to us that something really bad could happen to these guys. They continue to do this to other vehicles and eventually they could get hurt, and it could lead to a homeowner taking action and they could end up losing their life," Draper said.

The Drapers said they've put the video immediately on their community's public Facebook page, which includes 1,600 members of their HOA.
