Fort Hood building where Army psychiatrist shot, killed 13 people to be demolished

FORT HOOD, TX

Four years after the 2009 rampage, officials at the Central Texas Army post said they would raze Building 42003 and move to reopen other parts of the Soldier Readiness Processing Center complex.

The area has been fenced off as a crime scene ever since Nov. 5, 2009, when Army Maj. Nidal Hasan opened fire, leaving dying soldiers and pools of blood on the floor.

Hasan was convicted in August and sentenced to death. Post spokesman Chris Haug says Army investigators turned over the building shortly after the sentence.

Haug said officials haven't decided what to do with the site once the building is removed.
