Today, Hindus from all over the world are celebrating the New Year, based on the lunar calendar.
More than 1,000 worshippers packed the Baps Swaminarayan Mandir in Stafford Monday afternoon. They prepared more than 1,000 vegetarian dishes to offer to God. Once the food has been prayed over and blessed, they will hold a feast.
The New Year comes the day after Diwali, the Indian festival of lights.
