How are US kids doing in math and science?

A new assessment says how well American students do in math and science compared to their peers worldwide depends on what state they live in.

The study says Massachusetts is the top performing state, but still lags behind some Asian countries.

And students in Mississippi, Alabama and the District of Columbia scored below the international average on both exams, on par with Kazakhstan and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
