A Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constable was called to a home in the 13900 block of Dentwood on Thursday to find the doors of the home open, and discovered the boy alone, playing inside. EMS crews were called to the scene, and they said the boy was in good condition, but had a feeding tube in his mouth, which they removed, court documents state.
Authorities contacted the boy's mother, who said he was born prematurely and suffered from brain damage. She said she had hired Sandra Sue Blackburn through a healthcare company to care for the boy for the last 18 months. When she left home earlier that day, she says she left the boy in Blackburn's care.
Blackburn never returned to the home, and authorities haven't been able to reach her, according to court documents. Blackburn, 69, has been charged with abandoning a child.
