Texas Department of Transportation names 25 toll jumpers, some owing $200K

AUSTIN, TX

The pair top a list of 25 alleged toll road scofflaws the state's transportation department released Thursday to help collect on tens of thousands in unpaid transactions on state-owned toll roads.

The Texas Department of Transportation says there are $27 million in unpaid tolls. Officials say they've sent notices to 28,000 motorists and gave them until noon Wednesday to arrange a payment plan.

TxDOT says it may resort to banning vehicles from toll roads and impounding them if stopped by police. Officials also can block drivers from renewing auto registrations.
