Parents want answers after man runs into Aldine ISD school

HOUSTON

It happened yesterday afternoon when the district says a man who appeared to be mentally ill ran through the front door and into a fifth grade classroom.

The Aldine school district says the man ran in through the schools from door, past the principal, who called law enforcement and the school, was put on lockdown. The man ran into a classroom, and police found him, sitting with a group of children at a table.

Eyewitness News talked to one fifth grade student who was there.

"He was running to the halls and trying to find an unlocked room so he came into our room," student Clintavia Vanzant said. "We prayed for God to save us."

It took about 20 minutes but the man was arrested without incident.

We shared those parents' concerns with Aldine ISD but they have yet returned our request for comment.

The man was taken into custody but charges have yet to be filed.
