Walking on train tracks proves deadly for Abilene man

ABILENE, TX

Abilene police Officer Brian Poynor tells the Abilene Reporter-News the train conductor blew the whistle when he saw the man walking on the tracks Tuesday evening, but by the time the man turned around, it was too late.

The man was knocked about 50 feet by the impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

In December, a 36-year-old man was struck and killed by a train in downtown Abilene, within a few blocks of where the man was killed Tuesday. Officials say the man in the December incident was lying on the tracks.
