Parents of girl killed in Texas City big rig wreck awarded $6.7M settlement

TEXAS CITY, TX

A jury found driver Hector Pena and a trucking company at a fault for the death of 11-year-old Christina Lopez. The jury awarded Lopez's family $6.7 million in damages.

In September of last year, Lopez was waiting for a school bus when an 18-wheeler came along and hit her.

Her parents released a statment Tuesday night, saying they hope the verdict will cause trucking companies to stress safety over profit.
