Two-alarm fire breaks out at flea market in north Harris County

HOUSTON

The flames broke out around 5am in the 8800 block of Airline Drive at Gulf Bank. More than 100 firefighters responded to the huge fire.

At the height of the fire, flames consumed several of the buildings. Luckily, firefighters were able to respond quickly and stop the fire from spreading.

"It definitely could have been worse. The fire department had a very good response they were able to stop the fire and contain it to just the 8 to 10 units," said Harris County Fire Marshal Lt. Chad Shaw.

Officials say the flea market did have running electricity so they are looking into that as being a possible cause. They are also looking into whether this fire could have been intentionally set.

No injuries were reported.
