The district says the driver had finished the route, returned to the bus barn and parked. The child had fallen asleep in one of the seats.
Another driver found the child a few minutes later, and took the preschooler to the office, then to Southside Primary School.
The district says the driver failed to check all the seats before leaving the bus, and was to be fired for it. But the driver resigned instead.
