Man confesses to 2009 murder in southwest Houston

HOUSTON

Noe Uribe, 33, was fatally attacked on November 15, 2009.

It happened just before 2am at Riverstone Apartments in the 9300 block of Woodfair. According to HPD, officers responded to a shooting call and found Uribe lying in the driveway entrance to the apartment complex. He was rushed to Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died.

Investigators determined he had been beaten and then shot during a struggle with three robbery suspects, described only as two black females and a black male.

The suspects fled on foot, leaving a white Ford Thunderbird behind because the Uribe's car was blocking the only exit.

Cory Bernard Sanders was initially questioned by investigators because he was the owner of the Thunderbird. At the time, he claimed his car was stolen. Further investigation and evidence obtained at the scene later linked Sanders and one other person to the murder.

Sanders, 29, voluntarily showed up last Thursday at the Houston Police Department, where he was interviewed by homicide detectives and reportedly confessed to his role in the killing.

Upon his confession, Sanders also provided information on two other possible suspects.

Sanders is charged with murder in the 208th State District Court.
