Police: Man killed in apparent home invasion in Third Ward

HOUSTON

Police were called out to an apartment in the 3800 block of Attucks Street at around 1pm Wednesday. Witnesses told officers they saw a group of men, three or four of them, go into the apartment. They say they heard a shot shortly after that, and then saw the men leaving the apartment and getting into a gray SUV. At that point, someone called 911.

Officer R. Lujan with HPD's Homicide Division said, "When the officers arrived, they found a male lying in the living room, and he appears to be shot."

Family members who were too upset to speak on camera told us the victim is about 70 years old. Family, friends, and neighbors have been gathered outside the apartments since the shooting happened, none of them wanting to say very much about what happened.

Police meanwhile, are still looking for the suspects in that gray SUV. They're asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the homicide division or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
