This robbery didn't stop other AT&T customers from showing up Friday morning to get their hands on the newest iPhone out, but it was quite the ordeal for two men who were held at gunpoint . Westheimer at Chimney Rock "It wasn't worth it, but we don't expect stuff to happen," one victim said. "We're just like everyone other guy standing in line waiting for the product."
The man didn't want to be identified on camera, but it was clear he and his friend didn't expect to be held at gunpoint while waiting to buy new iPhones.
He said, "The reason we stayed was now we didn't have a phone. We really needed a phone."
The man said while they were waiting outside the AT&T store on Westheimer at Chimney Rock, eager to get new the iPhone just released today. Two suspects approached them, held him at gunpoint and robbed him.
While one suspect held a gun on the victims, another made them hand over their phones, tablets and wallets. According to police, a third suspect possibly drove a getaway car.
Other customers showing up later in the morning were upset, but not surprised.
One said, "That's unformatted but expected if you're out here in the dark."
"That's ridiculous," another added. "I feel bad for the guy."
Police described the suspects as three teens who drove a dark blue four-door Honda Accord. They are hoping cameras from this strip center will help them in this investigation.
AT&T issued the following statement: "As the matter is under investigation by the police we are referring all inquiries to the Houston Police Department."
The two men were the first customers in the door when the store opened at 8am and they say they received free phones.
