Hussein Ali "Mike" Yassine is already serving 12 years after being convicted on money laundering charges. U.S. District Judge Sam Sparks on Friday ruled that Yassine's new punishment will run consecutively with his current sentence.
Yassine, 41, was accused of using his downtown Austin bars to launder more than $200,000 in what prosecutors believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.
Yassine Enterprises was once downtown Austin's biggest nightclub operator.
