Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio says investigators believe 67-year-old Jose Isaias Leal of Progreso fell from his tractor around 7:30 a.m. There were no witnesses to the accident. He said Leal had worked there for about 20 years and had a history of heart problems.
Karen Lucio, a clerk at the gin, told the Valley Morning Star that officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration met with gin General Manager Gerald Milligan there Wednesday afternoon.
