A high-speed chase lasted only 10 minutes overnight before the driver crashed and was arrested in southeast Houston.

Police say the chase started when officers tried to pull over a driver with expired license plates in the 2600 block of McGowen. The driver took off and led police onto 610 and then to Highway 288, where he lost control and crashed into the median.

The suspect jumped out of the vehicle and ran across the freeway, where officers chased him down and arrested him. Authorities say the car was not stolen and it's unclear right now why he ran.

The driver faces charges of felony evading.
