A state law that took effect this month allows the NTTA to work with county tax offices to block the nearly 80,000 toll dodgers from renewing their registrations.
The Dallas Morning News reports commissioners on Tuesday granted Dallas County's tax assessor-collector the ability to work with the NTTA to refuse vehicle registrations for habitual toll violators. Officials in Denton and Tarrant counties have similar agreements in the works.
The law grants multicounty toll agencies new enforcement powers -- but with a grace period. Habitual violators have until Friday to work out a payment plan and avoid some violation fees.
