2 killed in wreck on Dallas freeway after dump truck jumps median

DALLAS, TX

Authorities initially said one person was killed in the wreck Tuesday morning, but Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans later told The Dallas Morning News that two died on Interstate 635 in northwest Dallas. Traffic was backed up in both directions of the freeway for miles.

It wasn't clear what caused the industrial-sized truck to strike and then straddle the median, with one car caught under the truck's front wheels on one side of the freeway and a second car trapped near its rear wheels on the other side of the median.

Evans says the two who died were in the car struck by the front of the truck.
