Two in custody, two still on loose in deadly Denny's robbery

HOUSTON

Mario Hilton walked into court Monday morning handcuffed, but looking relaxed as prosecutors read the capital murder charges against him. Investigators believe Mario and Corey Hilton, seen on crutches, are two of the four people involved in the deadly Denny's shooting two weeks ago, with Mario allegedly driving the getaway van.

Prosecutor Cameron Calligan said, "There was a witness who advised the driver of the van that day was a man with dreadlocks."

Calligan says a friend of the four suspects tipped off investigators to the van, which was found last Friday at a northeast Houston apartment complex. It was there that the Hiltons were arrested, and clothing allegedly captured on surveillance video was found.

"A lot of the outfits captured on surveillance video of the capital murder taking place matched the description of the items in the apartment," Calligan said.

Mario Hilton and Corey Hilton are already under arrest with no bond. But police are still looking for a third suspect, Kenya Jackson, and there is a fourth suspect still unidentified and on the loose.

All are accused of shooting and killing customer Greg Placette, and injuring a Denny's assistant manager. But prosecutors say for now, beyond robbing Denny's, they are not aware of any other reason the suspects opened fire.

"I'm not aware of any motivation, why the man who was killed was killed," Calligan said.
